City of Palm Desert

To maintain Palm Desert's long-term finances, City services such as 9-1-1 emergency medical/police/fire response, fire protection, response to property crime/thefts, keeping public areas safe/clean, maintaining streets, roads, parks, youth/senior programs; retain/attract local businesses; and for general government use, shall the measure establishing a 1¢ sales tax generating approximately $25,000,000 annually until ended by voters, requiring public spending disclosure, funds controlled locally, be adopted?

(ADVISORY) In Palm Desert now, District 1 (the area surrounding Civic Center with 20% of the population) selects one Council representative every four years, and District 2 (the other 80% of the City) votes for a total of four Council representatives, picking two representatives every two years. Should District 2 be divided into four smaller districts, with all voters electing a single person from their smaller district every four years?

To improve general City services, such as police/emergency response, parks, youth/senior services, and street repair, shall the City of Palm Desert enact a general tax on cannabis businesses of up to $20 per square foot for cultivation; up to 3% of gross receipts for cannabis manufacturing; and up to 15% of gross receipts for cannabis retail sales and delivery; generating u to $5,430,000 annually for unrestricted general revenue purposes, until ended by voters?

To maintain 9-1-1 emergency medical/police/fire response; Palm Desert's long-term financial stability; neighborhood policing/crime prevention; water conservation; street repairs and other vital services, shall an ordinance increasing Palm Desert's short-term general rental tax from 9% to 11%, paid only by hotel guests/short-term renters, generating approximately $2,200,000 annually until ended by voters, requiring independent audits, public oversight, and local control of funds be adopted?

Shall Ordinance No. 1270 be adopted to approve an increase in the City's Transient Occupancy Tax from the current rate of nine percent (9%) to a rate of eleven percent (11%)?

(ADVISORY) If the City of Palm Desert's Transient Tax, as set forth in Chapter 328 of the Palm Desert Municipal Code is increased from 9% to 11%, should the City solely allocate the additional revenue for promotional efforts, including advertising, public relations, special event publicity, marketing collateral development, the City's BrightSide newsletter, and the official Palm Desert tourism website to maintain a consistent image for the City's local, regional, and national marketing campaign?
