City of South Lake Tahoe

Shall the measure to tax property owners who keep nonexempt residential units in the City of South Lake Tahoe vacant more than 182 days/year, $3,000/unit for the first year of vacancy and $6,000/unit for subsequent consecutive years, subject to CPI adjustment, with exceptions, generating between $10,000,000 to $20,000,000 annually until ended by voters, to be used only for housing, roadworks, transit, and administrative and legal costs, with administration overseen by oversight committee, be adopted?

Shall the measure to maintain essential services such as wildfire prevention, safety, snow removal, road repair, youth programs, other general services by converting existing cannabis business fees to a gross receipts tax up to 6% on retail/distribution/manufacturing, $20/square foot of canopy on cultivation, providing approximately $950,000 annually until ended by voters, continuing regulations/limits on cannabis businesses, requiring public spending disclosure, all funds for South Lake Tahoe, be adopted?

Shall the measure to maintain fire protection, 9-1-1 emergency response, public safety, snow removal; reduce wildfire threats; prevent Lake pollution; repair streets/ potholes, keep public areas safe/ clean; retain local jobs/ businesses; protect long- term financial stability; provide other City services by establishing a 1¢ transactions/ use (“ sales”) tax providing approximately $5,400,000 annually until ended by voters, requiring audits, all funds only for South Lake Tahoe, be adopted?

Should an ordinance, to eliminate most vacation home rentals (“VHR”) in residential zones within the City of South Lake Tahoe, be adopted, that: (1) eliminates VHRs in residential zones by 2021, except for certain “qualified” VHRs operated by permanent residents; (2) allows VHR operations in commercial zones and tourist core areas; (3) adds VHR occupancy limitations; (4) increases minimum fines for VHR-related violations, after 2021; and (5) limits the ordinance’s amendment, unless approved by a majority of voters?

Shall the ordinance be adopted that increases the amount of transient occupancy tax two (2) percent city wide be utilized only for the special purpose of constructing, operation and maintenance of recreational facilities, specifically including the construction of a recreational complex as set forth in the Recreation Master Plan?

(ADVISORY) Shall the revenue derived from the ordinance that increases the amount of transaction and use tax by one half (1/2) percent be expended on housing?

(ADVISORY) Shall the revenue derived from the ordinance that increases the amount of transaction and use tax by one half (1/2) be expended on road construction and maintenance?

(ADVISORY) Shall the revenue derived from the ordinance that increases the amount of transaction and use tax by one half (1/2) be expended on city hall, city facilities and equipment?

Shall the City Council of the City of South Lake Tahoe be prohibited from "approving or supporting" the Tahoe Transportation District project known as "the US 50/South Shore Community Revitalization Project?

Shall an ordinance be adopted that increases the amount of transaction and use tax from one half (1/2) percent to one (1) percent, with the increased revenue derived from the one half (1/2) percent increase to be devoted to the public purpose as determined by the companion advisory vote?

Shall the City of South Lake Tahoe repeal the paid parking program consisting of Ordinance Numbers 1049, 1051 and 1054, which repeal shall be effective August 31, 2014?”

Shall the ordinance that amends the methods for calculating certain business taxes in the City of South Lake Tahoe to increase locally controlled revenue for city services and operations; such as, police, fire, paramedics, snow removal, parks, and street repair; by reducing the percentage of taxes paid on gross revenues by five percent and increasing the not to exceed amount from $3,448 to $20,000 per calendar year and eliminating the cost of living increase, be adopted?
